What are the qualifications for a New Jersey Real Estate Salesperson license?

To qualify for a New Jersey Real Estate Salesperson license, you must be at least 18 years old, have a high school diploma or equivalent, complete a 75-hour pre-licensure course at a licensed school, and pass the New Jersey state examination administered by PSI. After passing the state exam, you must complete fingerprinting, secure a sponsoring broker, and apply for licensure with the New Jersey Real Estate Commission, all within one year from the last day of your pre-licensure class.

When does my one-year licensing window begin?

Your one-year window begins on the last scheduled day of your pre-licensure class. The course is considered complete on that date, provided you have satisfied the 20% attendance requirement. The school exam, state exam, fingerprinting, and broker sponsorship are post-course requirements that must be completed within that one-year window. Passing the school exam does not change, restart, or extend your course completion date.

What must I complete within the one-year window?

Within one year from the last day of class, you must:

1. Pass the Academy's school exam

2. Pass the New Jersey state exam administered by PSI

3. Complete fingerprinting through the state-designated vendor

4. Secure a sponsoring broker

5. Apply for licensure through the New Jersey Real Estate Commission

The one-year clock does not pause, extend, or restart for any reason, including delays in scheduling exams, failing the school exam, or personal circumstances.

What happens if I don't complete everything within one year?

If you do not complete all five requirements within one year from the last day of class, your original course enrollment expires. You must re-enroll and complete the full 75-hour pre-licensure course again at the then-current tuition rate. There are no extensions, partial credits, or exceptions, regardless of how close you are to completing the remaining requirements.

What is the process for taking the state exam?

After you pass the Academy's school exam, the Academy will submit your eligibility to PSI. You can then register online for the state exam through PSI, select a date and location, and sit for the exam. A passing score of 70% or higher is required. You may retake the state exam as needed, with an additional exam fee per attempt. PSI submission does not extend your one-year licensing window, which began on the last day of class.

How many attempts do I get at the school exam?

Students have unlimited attempts at the school exam within the one-year window. Fees depend on your plan: Pro Plan students have all attempts included; Starter Plan students pay a $15 proctoring fee per attempt. A passing score of 70% or higher is required to pass.

What if I fail the state exam?

You can retake the state exam in accordance with PSI's testing center availability. Each retake is subject to PSI's exam fee. If you do not pass the state exam and complete all five licensing requirements within one year from the last day of class, you must re-enroll and complete the full 75-hour pre-licensure course again at the then-current tuition rate.

What do I need to do after passing the state exam?

After passing the state exam, you must complete fingerprinting through the state-designated vendor, secure a sponsoring broker, and submit your license application to the New Jersey Real Estate Commission — all within your one-year window from the last day of class.

How do I find a sponsoring broker?

Newly licensed agents are independent contractors and may interview with any licensed real estate brokerage in New Jersey. We recommend interviewing with at least three different brokerages before making a decision. Your sponsoring broker is the brokerage you will hang your license with once you are licensed.

Are there any waivers of the education requirements?

If you are a licensed Broker or Salesperson in another state, a disabled veteran, an attorney, have taken college-level real estate courses, or hold a degree in real estate, you may qualify for an education waiver. To request a waiver package, please contact us directly.

How do I qualify for the $299 rebate under the Pro Plan (Pass & Get Paid™)?

To qualify for the full $299 rebate under the Pro Plan, you must complete all four of the following within 60 days of class completion:

1. Complete the 75-hour course

2. Attend in-person graduation

3. Submit a one-minute video testimonial

4. Pass the NJ state exam

Once all four steps are complete and verified, your $299 rebate will be processed.

What are the qualifications for a Real Estate Salespersons license?

To qualify for a Real Estate Salespersons license you must be at least 18 years old, have a high school education or equivalency, complete a 75 hour pre-licensure course at a licensed school and pass the New Jersey examination. After passing the examination, you must apply for a license through a sponsoring Employing Broker within 1 year from the expiration of the school certificate or you must again complete all requirements.

What is the process for taking the state exam?

Students will be able to register online for the state exam through PSI once the school has submitted their name having successfully passed the school test. Students will pick a date and location to sit for the state exam. Students must score a 70% or higher in order to pass the state exam. Students may retake the state exam as many times, as needed, with an additional exam fee each time.

How do I go about getting a job working for a Real Estate Brokerage?

Newly licensed agents are independent contractors and may interview to work at any real estate company in the State of NJ. We recommend you interview with at least 3 different brokerages prior to making a decision

What is the Academy's refund policy?

We offer two types of refunds:

1. Full Refund under the Pro Plan (Pass & Get Paid™):

Pro Plan students may qualify for a full $299 refund only if all of the following are completed within 60 days of enrollment: pass the school exam, pass the state exam, attend graduation, and submit a student testimonial.

2. First-Day Satisfaction Refund:

If you are unhappy with the class for any reason, you may request a refund by the end of the first day of class.

• Starter Plan: $99 refunded

• Pro Plan: $99 refunded (the additional $200 covers digital materials and resources delivered immediately upon enrollment and is non-refundable)

What format are the courses held in?

Our 75-hour pre-licensure courses are held live via Zoom. Cameras must be on at all times during class, and attendance is recorded and audited by the New Jersey Real Estate Commission.

What is the attendance policy?

Students may not miss more than 20% (15 hours) of class time. If you miss more than 20%, the missed classes must be made up within 30 days or you will need to retake the course. All classes start on time and will be locked 30 minutes after the start time.

What if I need to miss a class?

You can attend the missed class during a future course cycle at no additional charge, provided the make-up is completed within 30 days. Missed material is also covered during review days.

Do I need to take notes and complete the practice tests in the book?

Yes. We recommend taking notes during all lectures, highlighting important information in your textbook, and completing all practice tests, quizzes, and keyword exercises. These materials are designed to prepare you for both the school exam and the state exam.
